The year was 1986 and the PSC-PSOE faced a tough electoral contests that has ever suffered: the referendum on Spain's continued membership in the North Atlantic Treaty. NATO, come on. He was one of those moments when you build the famous effect drop fairy. " No one walks up to you but just the opposite. He touched the Socialist Party's defense of something incomprehensible to many people, which was normal because it was so we had just come out of that dark period of tyranny in which Spain did not know of deals closed to the outside, at least as equals. In this context we were socialist militants L'Hospitalet, like other colleagues and peers across the state. It was not the best time to militants, no. And by golly! One afternoon appears Renclusa street, local in Group II of the then-North now, a young law student, resident of Pubilla Casas, and requests for membership of the PSC . The then First Secretary of the Association, Antonio Romero, asked their reasons for wanting to join in this very difficult time. Always has to ask to see if there are clear concerns, but also always surprised that a young approach to politics, right? The law student is quite clear and explained to Romero that this is a historic moment for Spain and if we do not win the referendum, we can never be on the train in Europe, on the train of modernity, on the train of democratic countries. The first Secretary not only accepted the answer immediately but suggested the young man to assist in the campaign. That referendum won the nod to Spain's continued membership in NATO and the more immediate history of our country has the right to the young man who had clearly had to gamble and it was time to get to work but many do not understand us in that time. This young man, now Prime Minister of the Northern Group, has left us today, provoking a huge void. Today we have killed a teammate. Use the adjective in the highest significance to the word in a socialist. The partner is everything. The partners are discussing among ourselves, sometimes we agree, others may not, but they work side by side in the same direction. Our ultimate goal is to build a better world, with equal opportunities for all, with a real social justice and freedom of action and thought. We are, we believe in democracy.
left as an homage to Mario a picture I made with my phone at the last meeting of the North Group, reviewing notes before the start of the Assembly. Instantly but it's just a picture show that everyone will remember Mario: working for the PSC and L'Hospitalet.
Farewell, mate!
